Biennale Talk | Regeneration and Biennials

Wayne Gonzales, Darryl Montana, William Fagaly, and Trevor Schoonmaker

Regeneration and Biennials is a conversation between artists and art professionals on the metaphor of the regenerative lotus plant put forth by Prospect 4, New Orleans. This talk will investigate how art, music and religion, in both the civic and private sectors, effect the rebuilding of communities. What is the role of biennials and institutions in a cities' restoration? Is it possible to protect tradition from the growth in tourism that comes with these events? What part does spirituality play in civil rights struggles? How do artists weave music and visual arts into transmitting positive growth?

Wayne Gonzales, Artist, New York; Darryl Montana, Artist, New Orleans; William Fagaly, Founding and Current Board Member of Prospect New Orleans, retired Curator at New Orleans Museum of Art, New Orleans

Moderator: Trevor Schoonmaker, Artistic Director, Prospect.4, New Orleans and Chief Curator at the Nasher Museum of Art at Duke University, Durham
