Since then, its objective has been to promote the study of modern and contemporary art at an international level, with an emphasis on abstract-geometric practices. 'Why Shouldn't We Discuss These Things at the Table: a community based conversation with South Florida Artists'

Dates & Times
Currently closed

Address

777 Glades Road, Boca Raton, FL 33431

About
There are many unspoken rules within society that govern our everyday actions and conversations. Emily Post published the earliest of these 'How To’s' in her 1922 book, Etiquette: The Blue Book for Social Usage. This exhibition presents 15 artists residing in South Florida who question the advice from Post that topics such as politics, religion, money, or sex should not be discussed in formal settings or at the proverbial 'table'. The co-curators Adrienne Rose Gionta and Jeanie Ambrosio emphasize dialogue as a core tool for speaking to challenging subjects, including the current political climate. Presenting these varied points of view may serve to enrage, divide, heal or enlighten, while bringing forth a sense of community, reminding us that we are all delicately interconnected.

About
Central Fine will present a selection of historical works from Andre Pierre, who considered one of the masters in traditional religious Haitian Painting. His work continues to resonate and inform the practices of many contemporary Haitian artists. Pierre created a personal body of work were the deities of Voodoo were represented, as many lacked visual depictions, and their legends, rituals, were brought into the visual realm. His work was presented at documenta 14, in 2017; and has influenced the praxis of Myrlande Constant, who revolutionized Voodoo flag making, by incorporating pop culture, feminism, sex, and religion in a sacred object (The voodoo flag). Her work has been presented recently at Pionneer Works, in New York; The Grand Palais, Paris; CENTRAL FINE, Miami Beach; The Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami; and will hold a traveling mid career survey at the Fowler Museum at UCLA.

Jean Herard Celeur's sculptures bring together the human and the animal, presenting hybrid humanoids that point into the intertwining of nature and culture. He has presented his work at the 54th Venice Biennale, in 2011, at the Haitian Pavilion.

About
Jeffrey Deitch presents 'Kenny Scharf: Moodz.' Kenny Scharf has been spray-painting faces since 1981. Furtively painting on the street, he learned to develop images spontaneously and quickly. His faces project involves intense focus. He has created an expansive body of work within a rigorous set of constraints - but with infinite possibilities. Scharf embraces the immediacy of spray paint. His gestures use his entire body. The process is totally physical, like a dance. He paints while listening to music on his headphones, entering into a zone where his mind and body merge. His strokes follow the beat. Kenny Scharf is well-known in the Miami art scene. He lived in Miami for most of the 1990s. His study was located in the Design District.
