Archival pigment print on cotton rag paper
Faivovich & Goldberg Número 1, 2014 Archival pigment print on cotton rag paper 104 x 104 cm Edition of 1 Four thousand years ago, a meteorite shower took place in northern Argentina. Since the time these masses reached the distant plains of the Gran Chaco region, the history of Campo del Cielo and it´s meteorites have been marked by fragmentation, like an enormous puzzle whose pieces have been scattered within the passage of time. In the context of their long term project A Guide to Campo del Cielo, Faivovich & Goldberg have developed for ArtBasel Positions a series of newly commissioned works. Based on the extensive bibliographical and archival research, the artists have engaged on a microscopic-level quest of these legendary meteorites by exploring, with the aid of the latest technologies and knowledge, both historical and new, thin cut samples. The selected microphotographs have been enlarged and printed on cotton rag paper, emphasising the subtlety and fragility of the Project and at the same time its depth and profund impact.
