Fondation Beyeler
MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY MASTERPIECES From Monet, Cézanne, Van Gogh by way of Picasso, Matisse, Klee, Giacometti to Warhol and Bacon as well as ethnographic art from Africa, Alaska and Oceania: with some 300 masterpieces from the 20th and 21st centuries, the Beyeler Collection’s main focus is on Classic Modernism. Inaugurated in 1997 and set in an idyllic park, the museum was designed by the world-renowned architect Renzo Piano. The Fondation Beyeler, the most-visited art museum in Switzerland, owes its special appeal to its harmonious combination of exceptional art, picturesque nature and fascinating architecture. Every year, it shows up to four temporary exhibitions including projects in public spaces and just as many new presentations of the permanent collection. Recent exhibitions include “Gerhard Richter”, “Edgar Degas”, “Jeff Koons” and “Paul Gauguin”.
