Liang-Gallery

The 27-year-old Liang Gallery was founded in 1993 by Directors Yu Yen-Liang and Claudia Chen. Yu Yen-Liang currently is Member of the Board of Directors of the Chen Cheng-po Cultural Foundation, and Claudia Chen currently is President of Taipei Art District.

Located in Neihu Technology Park in Taipei and based in a three-story building of 2000 square meters, Liang Gallery organizes exhibitions of different themes every month. Since its founding, the primary aim of the gallery has been to promote academic research and exhibitions of Taiwanese art. Gradually, international exhibition exchange has also become one of the main objectives of the gallery.

The gallery promotes Taiwanese artists of the early 20th century, the most representative modern artists, post-war abstract ink-wash artists, and contemporary artists. Exhibitions held at the gallery feature artworks by different generations of artists. As a Taiwan’s history ambassador, Liang Gallery works with the foundations and families of pioneering painters in Taiwan, such as Chen Cheng-po, Liao Chi-Chun, Yang San-Lang, Chen Chih-Chi, Li Mei-Shu, and others to organize large-scale retrospective exhibitions and scholarly discussion forums, hence hoping for private art institutions to establish a strong position in the history of Taiwanese art. As an exhibition space, it aims to integrate post-war abstract art and contemporary art into the system of art history. Working with its represented and contracted artists, the gallery organizes curated exhibitions and plans academic exchange.
 
Liang Gallery is committed to developing international collaboration and exchange of art. For many years, it has been selected for inclusion in international art fairs and biennales to promote Taiwanese art. A significant number of artworks by the gallery’s represented artists have been included in the collection of the main art museums and private collectors.
