Galerie Martin Janda
Galerie Martin Janda was founded by Martin Janda as alternative exhibition space in 1992. In the following years, the field of activities was expanded to a gallery. In October 1999 the gallery moved to its present location in Eschenbachgasse 11 in the centre of Vienna. Together with by now four renowned galleries, a new centre of contemporary art and discussion was formed, at close quarters to Wiener Secession, Acadamy of Fine Arts, Kunsthistorisches Museum and Museumsquartier. The programme of the gallery is based on international contemporary art – conceptual art as well as painting, drawing, film / video, photography, sculpture and installation – and focuses on artistic positions that combine different experiences. In recent years our young artists have been very successful in becoming internationally established. We work with accomplished artists since years, and in some cases decades, before they received international recognition.
