Established in Chagny, small town in Burgundy in 1982, the gallery Pietro Spartà held is first exhibition with a group show. The show included conceptual artists and artists using photography, such as : Lawrence Weiner, Joseph Kosuth, On Kawara, Gilbert and George, Hans Peter Feldmann, Christian Boltanski, Annette Messager, Arnulf Rainer, Sophie Calle, Cindy Sherman, Richard Prince/Peter Nadin and Barbara Kruger. Since 1984, a real collaboration took place with Arte Povera’s artists such as Mario Merz, Alighiero Boetti, Luciano Fabro, Gilberto Zorio, Jannis Kounellis, american artists as Lawrence Weiner, Sol Lewitt and french artists as Bertrand Lavier, François Morellet, Daniel Buren, Niele Toroni, Alain Séchas, Jean-Luc Moulène. Since 1989, an important collaboration begin with Thomas Schütte who realize spécifics works and important architecturals installations as « Ferienhaus fur Terroristen » in 2009, « Kristall II » in 2014 and "Bibliotek" in 2017. In collaboration with the city of Chagny and the Ministry of Culture, the gallery has also contributed to the installation of three works in the city: "Octogon for Saint Eloi" by Richard Serra, "Et sous les étoiles" by Lawrence Weiner, "Weinende Frau" by Thomas Schutte.
