Crisis was founded in May 2018 with the intention of filling an empty space in the city of Lima: a commercial gallery of contemporary art that represents young artists. The name of the project refers to the critical moment of the local scene, in which more established galleries have closed their doors or have publicly expressed their intention to do so in the immediate term.
