Rules for Visitors

For safety and security reasons, we ask that our visitors comply with the following rules:

 

Please note that backpacks, tote bags, crossbody bags, suitcases and trolleys of any size are not allowed inside the halls.

Visitors can store their bags at coat checks at Level 1 Concourse near Entrance 1E, and at Expo Drive Entrance.

Storage space are limited and available in a first come, first served basis. 

Bag Policy

Only one bag per person is allowed. Smaller bags can be taken into the halls but will be subject to inspection. Backpacks, crossbody bags, suitcases and trolleys of any size are not allowed. Bags, briefcases, and similar items larger than 23 x 15 x 18 cm (9" x 6" x 7") must be deposited at the Coat Check. Any items that do not comply with this policy will be prohibited.

Limitation of liability

Visitors to the show shall be liable for any artwork or other property damage, whether negligently or inadvertently caused.

The organizer and the venue shall take all reasonable measures to ensure the safety and security of the show, and they shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, or injury incurred during the show.

Participants are responsible for their own personal property and safety at the event venue.

Tickets

Purchase and/or use of a ticket and/or entry into the show constitutes acceptance of the terms and conditions herein.

All sales of tickets are final and refunds and/or amendments cannot be made at the customer’s request after the ticket order has been confirmed, including, without limitation, in the event of changes in the program, cancellation or postponement of the show for any reason whatsoever. Failure to attend on the proper day and time will not result in a refund.

Tickets obtained from unauthorized sources other than the Art Basel website are void.

Unauthorized or unlawful resale or attempted resale of a ticket is grounds for seizure and cancellation of all admission privileges without compensation.

Health & Safety

All visitors must comply with the health and safety policies of the show. If specific health and safety measures become applicable, relevant updates will be provided on the Art Basel website.

Group Visit Policy

For groups of eight or more, registration is required through the Group Visit Registration Form prior to your visit. Please ensure that you adhere to the Rules and Regulations for group visits. Due to the fragility of certain artworks and space limitations, the galleries listed in the 'Group Visit Refusal List' are not available for group visits. 

Venue operations staff reserve the right to control access to groups that do not comply with this rule.

Security Inspection

All visitors and their belongings are subject to a thorough inspection before entering the show premises. Visitors must comply with requests and instructions from the onsite security staff. Any disruptive behavior (including, without limitation, any protest, attempted vandalism or unauthorized performance) or failure to follow instructions of onsite security staff could result in removal from the show, without refund.

Belongings

Please be mindful of your belongings. The Organizer will not be liable for any lost or damaged items left on the premises. For any lost and found items, please send an email to operationshk@artbasel.com. You can also visit the Organizers Office at G106 (near Entrance 1C) to report your loss and seek assistance in locating and retrieving your lost item.

Coat Check

Coat checks are free of charge. Art Basel is not liable for stolen items and/or any items deposited in the coat check areas.

Prohibited Items in Halls

Backpacks, crossbody bags, suitcases, trolleys of any size; large umbrellas and any other items that might cause damage; firearms, self-defense and/or any sharp items; recreational wheeled devices (e.g. Segways, roller blades, skate boards, bicycles, scooters, etc.); drones.

Mobility Aids and Medical Equipment

Mobility aids for people with disabilities (e.g. wheelchairs, crutches, walkers, canes, prosthetic devices and other orthotic devices) are allowed. Personal medical equipment is also allowed.

Camera Policy

Cameras no larger than 16 cm x 12 cm x 8 cm (6" x 5" x 3") in size are permitted. One lens, no more than 80mm in focal length, is permitted. The following are prohibited: medium or large-format cameras, super-zoom or telephoto lenses, flashes, extendable camera devices (e.g. monopods, tripods, selfie sticks, etc.), drones and video recording. Any device that does not comply with this policy will be prohibited.

Visitor Photography Policy

Personal / non-professional use photography is permitted, only if conducted without disruption to the galleries or visitors, and with the safety of the artworks in mind. Press and promotional photography and filming are taking place on the premises. Attendance at the fair implies permission for your image to be used for non-commercial purposes (including media reports).

Marketing Material Distribution

The distribution of flyers and any other marketing materials is subject to authorization. Unauthorized distribution will result in the visitor being asked to leave the fair and removal of all materials.

Service Dogs and Assistance Animals

Dogs and other pets are not permitted in the exhibition halls, except for certified service animals for visitors with disabilities.

Artwork valuation

Please do not bring artwork for valuation.

Food and Beverage

Outside food and beverage items are not allowed to be brought into the venue, however, we invite you to explore the exciting range of dining options on offer at Art Basel.

 

No Smoking

Smoking or vaping is not permitted on the show premises.

Children

  • Children below the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Each adult can only bring in one child. Admission is free for children under 3 when accompanied by an adult with ticket.
  • Remind your children to always walk, not run.
  • Smaller children can be brought in baby strollers, which are permitted throughout the venue.
  • Remind children that security guards protect us and the art; please ask your children to respect their requests.
  • Instruct your children to never touch art as it can be damaged by the natural oils on their fingers.
  • By obtaining a ticket and attending the show, accompanying adults hereby consent to the viewing of all content at the show on behalf of minors under their care or custody.

The Organizer reserves the right to refuse admission.

All issues not expressly provided for in these Rules & Regulations for Visitors are to be decided by The Organizer alone, subject to applicable law.
