Caught in a moment of suspension, the money trees allude to our communal experience of lockdown during a profound global health crisis, where we all became still, stuck in a moment, or more literally in our individual spaces. This intertwinement is personified by the twisted forms of the money trees, known for their strength and auspiciousness. The work suggests an interdependency between people in times of isolation and precarity, embodying a collective anxiety and powerlessness, but also symbolising solidarity and resilience.

Trevor Yeung uses plants, aquarium systems, and installations as metaphors for the human behaviour and social connections. Stemming from his careful study of nature, Yeung forms his own ecosystems that simulate his personal observations and experiences of the world.
