Encounters Curator-Led Tour | Art Basel Hong Kong
An exclusive guided tour led by the curatorial team behind Encounters, Art Basel Hong Kong’s sector dedicated to ambitious large-scale installations that transcend the traditional gallery booth format.

This edition marks the first year Encounters is curated by a new collective of four Asia-based curators—Mami Kataoka, Isabella Tam, Alia Swastika, and Hirokazu Tokuyama—signaling a shift toward a collaborative curatorial model led by Kataoka. Drawing on experience from institutions such as Mori Art Museum and M+, the curatorial vision foregrounds works that engage deeply with social, spatial, and cultural narratives.

5:00–6:30 pm
Collection Visit | A Private Space in Chai Wan
Following the tour, we will travel to Chai Wan, at the eastern tip of Hong Kong Island, to visit a private collection space established by a prominent Beijing-based collector with a long-standing commitment to contemporary art. The collection spans major figures in both Chinese and international contemporary art, reflecting decades of sustained engagement with artistic practices and institutional dialogue.

The visit will conclude at Aye Space, an independent gallery known for its thoughtful exhibitions and support of experimental and cross-disciplinary practices. Both venues are located within walking distance.

After the visit, transportation will be arranged back to Central. An evening celebrating Hong Kong Art Week will follow with rich programming throughout the night.

Exact details will be confirmed upon enrolment.
