Paulina Pobocha, Chair and Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, The Art Institute of Chicago André Rottmann, art historian Berlin Moderator:&nbsp;Elena Filipovic, Director, Kunstmuseum Basel, Basel Best known for her large-scale abstract sculptures, Berlin-based artist Nairy Baghramian has developed a distinct language of combining loosely organic forms with geometric support structures in works that invites viewers to reconsider their sense of self, space, object and site. A Gold Awardee in the Established Artist category of the Art Basel Awards in 2025, she has been entrusted with Art Basel’s annual commission for Messeplatz. The panel gathers a distinguished group of experts, Paulina Pobocha, Chair and Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Art Institute of Chicago, André Rottmann, art historian, and moderator Elena Filipovic, Director of Kunstmuseum Basel and a member of the Art Basel Awards jury, to discuss Modèle vivant (S’empilant) (2026), Baghramian’s site-responsive sculptural grouping designed for the square’s fountain. Together, they explore the latest iteration of a practice marked by relentless experimentation, historical acuity, and conceptual rigor.
