The ‘Inner Worlds’ film series visits creatives in the places that inspire them

In the dimly lit foyer of La Cigale in Pigalle, the theater where they played their first concert in 2007, Gaspard Augé and Xavier de Rosnay – better known as Justice – reflect on the journey that has taken them from the Parisian electro scene to stages around the globe.

The duo’s signature sound, a collision of distorted basslines and symphonic grandeur, has always existed at the intersection of music and visual art – a territory they continue to explore with each project. ‘Things have changed a lot since our early concerts. They were our first gigs and we weren’t familiar with the idea of creating a performance. Today, we try to make our shows as entertaining as possible,’ they explain.

This philosophy manifests itself in their live appearances, where monumental light installations transform concerts into immersive experiences. The influence of artists like James Turrell, whose work alters perception through light and space, resonates deeply in Justice’s approach to performing.

For Justice, Paris remains a constant source of inspiration. ‘Paris is the smallest big city in the world. It’s an intense city!’ they conclude.
