Oil on panel
Mamma Andersson Huggermugger, 2013 Oil on panel 82 x 169.8 cm 32 3/8 x 67 inches 'Huggermugger' is a recent painting by Andersson, rendered in characteristically high detail. One of her most autobiographical works to date, it depicts the faces of her mother and father framed by two classical ornaments, their shadows hovering in the background. Andersson toys with the pictorial space as the couple appear interlocked as if projected onto a wall or painted in a mural. Dreamlike and expressive, personal and poignant, the painting conjures up a sense of the romantic and the timeless.
