In his On Reflection series, Gersht uses the still life genre as a template, referencing a set of three flower paintings by Jan Breughel (The Elder) from the early 1600s. He does not, however, present the viewer with direct images of the still life; instead Gersht photographs the reflections of his meticulously constructed scenes in a distorted or fractured mirror. The image is thus broken up into multiple planes of focus, resulting in a thought-provoking kaleidoscopic representation.
