Shown for the very first time the empathetic collages "Untitled" (1997) of Birgit Jürgenssen (1949 - 2003, Vienna/Austria) prove once more her multi-layered and extraordinary multifaceted ability. The female body and its metamorphosis were one focus of her work, which was predominately made up of drawing, painting and photography. Referring to her previous series "Interieurs" (1997) and "Cherry Blossoms in Siena" (1994) Jürgenssen uses different fabric patterns as a basis overlain with cut outs of her "Interieur" photographies to enrobe the portrayed woman, which seem to be inscribed into their bodies. The topos of home and therein contained furniture reflects its female inhabitants and their domestication. Women are not actively forming their environment: their bodies are objectified to decoration objects.
