André Kertész Distortion #91, 1933 Gelatin silver print Kertész always had a fascination with reflections and optical distortions through water. Working with two models and three fun house mirrors in 1933, he created the ‘Distortion’ series of nearly 200 images, which he originally titled ‘Grotesques’ and ‘Deformations’. Later he was credited for having introduced surrealism to photography with this series, though he never formally associated with the movement during his time in Paris.
