Rodney Graham Pipe Cleaner Artist Maquette / Studio Construction #16, 2015 Cotton, metal, wood, acrylic paint 48,5 x 53,5 x 18 cm Unique Rodney Graham counts among the most important conceptual artists of our time. He is renowned for his humorous, self-reflexive and narrative works, in which he puts himself in relation to literature, music, film, and icons from art history in various roles. Since 2013 he is persuing the role of the “pipe cleaner artist” -  a fictional character from the 1960s who explores the expressive qualities of pipe cleaners. Without any fixation on one single medium, Rodney Graham uses this role to amalgamate with one another the real and the fictional figure of the artist. The natural and organic forms of the assemblages, sculptures and drawings made with pipe cleaners result from Grahams automatist approach.
