Linda McCue Landscape (Geneva), 2015 Oil on canvas Circle, 90 cm diameter In her minimal still lifes Linda McCue plays in a subtly ambiguous way with object and pictorial space, pattern and quotation – merging reference and materials into compositions verging on the abstract. In her recent works, she interprets aspects of picture and ground, as when she contrasts a sharp painterly depiction of objects by also depicting their absence, staging and unmasking their own illusionism at the same time.
