Executed between 1925 and 1955, it was assembled and maintained by the artist’s eldest son, the photographer Andreas Feininger (1906- 1999), and his wife, Wysse. As such, many of the figures and houses feature prominently in City at the Edge of the World, a book of photographs of Lyonel Feininger’s painted figures and houses, which was published by Andreas and T. Lux Feininger in 1966.
