Ketty La Rocca's earliest works are collages which she began 1964. Already here she condensed in a compelling way her political critique with which she also provided a testimony of the revolutionary mood of this particular period. At issue was a society that was increasingly being dominated and conditioned by consumption and the media. La Rocca adopted the pop art approach of acknowledging the imagery of the media and of the commodity world with all their stereotypes and triviality so as to confront art with a social field that it had not yet taken into account. (...) With the sarcastic and poetic wit in both language and imagery in her "Poesia Visiva" (Visual Poetry) she subverted the prpmises that advertisement makes to women.
