As the most reasonably priced contemporary art works on the market, multiples, were an important medium for Kippenberger, who publicly expressed skepticism for the art market by treating unique works and commercially produced multiples equally. “Clinging to the Wall, a Bite at Susan’s” is one of such multiples. Its bust part is molded assembly foam that was cast from the artist himself, and is suspended at the exact same height as the artist.
