Wang Chuan’s abstract paintings are neither restrained by medias or any abstract genre derived from the Modernism, nor for any possibility of developing abstract art itself. His painting is closer to Chinese calligraphy, changing into a performance of personal life experience and artistic conception. Chinese calligraphy focuses on persistent daily practices and understanding, thereby slowly improving personal trainings and personalities. However, calligraphy does not care about styles or forms, but is a reflection of inner world of a person. So are Wang Chuan’s paintings, which become a record of his daily artistic homework and the evidence of his gradually increasing life states. His life has little to do with the noisy modern society, but remains fond of the details and environment of life itself. All of these are his own sources of inspiration, in which he returned to literati arts and found his own style in contemporary arts.
