Papaconstantinou’s drawings are a combination of semi-transparent abstract landscapes of marks, grays, empty spaces between letters and blurred typeface borderlines thoroughly traced, pin-pricks or dense layers of handwritten text, through a process which resembles that of tapestry or weaving (which again is connected to storytelling). In her recent series titled “Pile of Books “, the artist explores the potentials of black carbon paper, transcribing the colophons of books and creating new surfaces that produce information that cannot be deciphered.
