"Nicéphore Niépce is recognized as one of the inventing founders of photography. Published in 1829 Notice on Heliography is a manuscript that within it articulates Niépce’s very own research on photography. 10 years later, Niépce’s son who inherited his legacy and Louis Daguerre who together had engaged in his research activities, declared the invention of the daguerreotype in their joint names (at that time the term “photograph” did not yet exist). Although this declaration had been in the form of a patent, its contents were distributed freely to (almost) everyone, and thus as a result soon spread throughout the world. The conception of the photograph indeed lies between the front and back covers of Notice on Heliography, wrapped in a simple cover of what appears to look like animal fur."
