Folly

Installation
Wander in a contemplative ring around a queered Zen garden: mugwort encircles a series of fetish objects like raked sand snakes around rocks; two dynastic Chinese pots rest atop ornate wooden stands; grazing deer are lit by a Noguchi paper floor lamp; a floating ornamental robe presides from a corner. A huge carnival tent towers over the collection, its dimly-lit organza interior plush and inviting. Its solidity is questionable – it bends and warps like heat haze. AA Bronson has made a career of engagement with political and social issues in art and publishing. He was a founding member of General Idea (1967–1994). Since the deaths of Felix Partz and Jorge Zontal, he has extended his lifelong practice of collaboration through his involvement with a diverse community of artists spanning multiple generations. Spirituality is a key theme in his art. AA Bronson’s new installation FOLLY is a collaboration with Mark Jan Krayenhoff van de Leur and Adrian Hermanides. Pop art, spirituality, queer sexuality, and magic intertwine in this enchanted garden.
