NATALIE FRANK (b. 1980, Austin, TX) explores structures of power within the complexes of identity, sexuality, religion, and history. Her paintings merge the personal, political, and the theatrical often depicting figures of the in-between, characters on the fringes ill-defined by gender and sexuality, reality and fantasy, or presence and absence. Frank received an MFA in visual arts at Columbia University in 2006 and a BA in studio art from Yale in 2002. In 2003, she received a Fulbright Scholarship to study at the National Academy of Fine Art in Oslo, Norway. Frank has recently exhibited at The Drawing Center, New York; The Blanton Museum of Art, Austin, Texas; the University of Kentucky Art Museum; The University of Texas, at Austin; ACME, Los Angeles; The Rose Art Museum, Waltham, MA; and the National Academy Museum, New York.
