Referencing Busby Berkeley’s surreal choreography in the 1953 musical Small Town Girl, Gabriel Lester’s MurMur is part document and part fiction, and edited from his live performance at the Moscow Biennale in 2015. Staged under extreme constraints of improvisation, MurMur features a singular act of four instrumentalists playing from inside a wall, to question the problematic social and cultural climate looming large over Europe.
