Wilhelm Sasnal’s The River features seven Bay Area and Polish bands singing text from Pare Lorentz’s book and film, The River, rearranging its free-verse script as a soundtrack. In Sasnal’s film the book takes on a new contextual presence: we see the bands, in various settings, using it as a songbook.
