Samson Young’s film is a fictional adaptation of J.S. Bach’s Coffee Cantata. Originally presented through songs, videos and stage design, the artist tells the imaginary story of a caravan cafe owner’s life. In the video, jazz vocalist Michael Schiefel improvises a set of songs inspired by the cantata. The video is set in the Rio Del Oro Valley in New Mexico on a piece of land bought by the artist’s father, who was spurred by a rumor about NASA development in the area that would turn out to be false.
