Esquema (Schema) is a contemporary version of the Baroque vanitas: the stub of a burnt candle, two books and a wooden structure that seems to reproduce the shadow that these books made while the candle burned. Here, the reference to the fleeting and the void is reaffirmed by the word ‘history’: That is, while ‘history’ is present in the title of the two volumes, it is contradicted by the materialization of the shadows. It is a piece structured in parallel worlds, as both an effect of the past and its consequences crystalized in the present.
