Inspired by the Indian tradition of Brahmanda stones, where stones are polished into an ovoid shape, Deductive Object is painted in traditional Korean colors known as obangsaek. This ‘cosmic egg’ implies the birth of a totality while the mirror platform seeks to present the emergence of a duality where nothingness rises from the matter. This work is part of a series of installations Kimsooja has created using mirrors and light as an act of ‘wrapping’ physical space. It follows her earlier practice of wrapping belongings into travel bundles known as bottari in Korean. Employing mirror as a medium to fold and unfold space and time, this installation is a very unique chapter in the development of the artist’s Bottari series, pushing the boundaries of what can be known and experienced in space.
金守子以印度文化的梵卵（Brahmanda）——打磨成橢圓形的石頭——為創作靈感，運用韓國傳統的五方色(obangsaek）創造出《Deductive Object》。這枚「宇宙蛋」意味著萬物的誕生，而鏡面平台便試圖呈現「有中生無」的二元關係。在創作這件作品及同系列的其他裝置時，藝術家利用光與鏡「包覆」物理空間，這個概念呼應了她早期用布匹包裹個人物品形成的Bottari（韓語中是「行李包」的意思)，恰如現在她以鏡子作為媒介來摺疊或展開空間與時間，以獨特的方式延續Bottari系列，衝破觀者對空間認知和局限體驗的界限。
