In this series Monk has created a site-specific installation based on a photograph he bought in Rome with the declaration of “Il cane di Pistoletto” on the back. He assumed it must refer to the dog of the renowned Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto.
The image, which is deconstructed and reevaluated in the space, engages the exhibition rooms and their specific architectures in an entirely new way.
The dog, broken into its constituent parts, is glorified and made invisible within this series, creating a new realm both connected and disconnected from its origin.
