Voir clair: La Gioconda aux essuie-glaces (To See Clearly: The Mona Lisa with Windshield Wipers) consists of a poster reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic La Joconde (Mona Lisa), which Lublin installed behind glass and attached a windshield wiper to. On top of the frame is a rubber bulb, decorated with stripes of red and white similar to the acrylic paint Lublin added to da Vinci’s portrait, that visitors could squeeze to squirt water onto the glass. The work’s own windshield wiper would clean the surface, clearing the view onto the image. Voir clair: La Gioconda aux essuie-glaces was featured in the 1965 group exhibition at Mathias Fels Gallery in Paris. Organised as a tribute to Marcel Duchamp, the show was titled La fête de la Joconde (Celebration of the Mona Lisa). It was also exhibited at Fondation Cartier, Paris, as part of the 1987 exhibition Vraiment Faux, and in her 2015 retrospective at the Lenbachhaus, Munich.
