Since the mid 90s multi-media artist Markus Selg has been exploring the dynamics between archaic myths and computer technology in the form of digital painting, sculpture, the moving image, theater, and immersive installations.
Arcadia is composed of a large-scale, digitally produced tapestry. Referring to social and cultural concepts of the garden, the computer-generated imagery opens a gateway into a world wherein nature and technology, reality and simulation are equitably fused. Installed as an architectural intervention in the historic center of Basel, this utopian garden becomes the scenic backdrop to an open stage within the urban landscape.
