"Most statues commemorate a historical event, or the life of an influential person. Commonly, they are intended as public art, exhibited in squares or outside public buildings. Given the current political climate, I envisioned the anonymous protester as the incarnation of a contemporary hero, taking the streets as an act of resistance. Holding a sign made out of a piece of cardboard, the protester is making a political statement and adopt a defiant posture. These work inspired me to consider the role of statuary in our current time."
