Reflections on the Horizon proposes an experience of the landscape rooted in the trans-objects legacy of Mario Pedrosa (the outspoken activist, critic, and museum director) alongside Wittgenstein’s conception of knowledge as thread. By observing the horizon, the artist became interested in its vast intangibility and its timelessness. The line of the horizon consists of movement: it connects and disconnects, it exists and doesn’t exist.
The installation is composed of several elements: each object is made of a manila rope bundle with colored, transparent, and engraved acrylic disks. When holding up and looking through these disks, one experiences the landscape in color and, likewise, a reflection of oneself. Subject and object are interdependent. Color can be disorientation, loss of consciousness. Color is uncertainty, pleasure that exceeds discursiveness.
