König Galerie only recently discovered theAustrian Pop Art artist Kiki Kogelnik, who hasbeen overshadowed by male contemporariesthroughout her career. In 2015, she hadher long-deserved breakthrough with herparticipation in the Tate Modern’s blockbusterexhibition ‘The World Goes Pop’, an exhibitionwhich raised awareness of curators andcollectors on the global and multifaceteddimensions of Pop Art. On the one hand, her works convey the unrest and optimismthat were a result of the promises offeredby advances in technology, science, spaceexploration, communication, and medicine;on the other hand, her focus shifted to whatlater became known as her ‘Women Works’series, specifically addressing the female roleportrayed in commercial advertising.
