Paola Pivi is know for her whimsical creations and mesmerising use of varied media, from large-scale installations with rotating airplanes to performances with live animals; from photographs of zebras in the snowy mountains to sculptures of polar bears covered in flashy colored feathers. Among the most well known are Pivi’s canvases covered with thousands of strings of pearls. The installation on display is one of Pivi’s most ambitious to date. Each of the 20 separate compositions is composed with thousands of delicate fresh water pearls, luminous and ranging in subtle shades of colors. Call Me Anything You Want is a jewel enlarged to macroscopic proportions and revolves around the concept of power and accumulation, united with the idea of luxury and understood as a slow unfolding of energy.
