Silver's new wall hangings made using clothing fabrics are composed of cut-outs created while observing a dancer in the artist's studio. The immediate and roughly cut shapes are a response to a body moving in time and space. Reminiscent of Matisse's cut-outs, Daniel Silver's interpretation modernises Degas' view of the dancing figure while inserting a layer of consumerism and luxury - the fabrics used have been sourced as off-cuts from a luxury fashion house. Vivid, colourful and transient, the textile works reflect Silver's ambition in sculpture - the imagined figure and its relation to space and time.
