New York based artist Yves Scherer (*1987 in Solothurn, Switzerland) is a digital native. Using the latest technical capabilities to contextualize the speculative substantiality of the human body, his wall objects, sculptures and environmental installations negotiate contents from popular culture in an epistemologically deliberated vocabulary of modern and contemporary art. His work linking online and offline, virtual and real is seen to carry a formal precision and sensuous quality.
For Couples, a hyperalistic wall sculpture, Scherer has transformed a famous photograph of the young Kate Moss and Johnny Depp by Annie Leibovitz into a 3D-CAD file and casted it in aluminum. After similar works based on random images of British actress Emma Watson, Couples is another signature proof for Scherer’s exciting contribution to contemporary sculpture.
