‘Underground Megacity’, 2018, 160 x 210 cm, mixed media on canvas The works is about new ways in which aspects of life, nature, and the urban environment fuse to form a new reality. Phenomena such as grafting or plastic surgery, these are stands as a symbol for the way in which humans have taken the upper hand over nature in order to create a new reality. The ‘Underground Megacity’ is questioning how the city grows or develops as an organic living structure keeping or growing the same values and sustainable knowledge (roots) and then it adds the new young branches to old roots to stay more productive, profitable and systematically structured inside greenhouses.
