Kris Lemsalu (b. 1985, Estonia) presents a project entitled “Time after time is our time”. The installation is centred around a bed where two clocks are entangled in a sculpture made out of ceramic hands, carpet and ropes. The walls surrounding the bed are painted dark. Scattered around the surface of the walls are ceramic callas with extra ceramic tongue-like petals, reminding the viewer of a starry sky. “Time after time is our time” evolves around the artistic and autobiographical themes of Lemsalu’s current practice. The mixed media installation combines found objects with the artist’s ongoing experiments with ceramics. The bed is a recurring element which has previously served as a backdrop to her performances and portraits. In “Time after time is our time”, the stark metal structure frames the dynamic and emotional sculpture that deals with questions of intimacy, time and the present.
