Bernd Ribbeck is an artist who in many respects resists the trends and expectations of the art scene small format, restricted to the medium of painting, technically complex and sophisticated, Ribbeck's art does not conform to what dominates contemporary biennales and trade fairs.Yet the small-format paintings by Bernd Ribbeck pack a punch. Incredibly dense, they seem to radiate from within. They are created in a long process of intense work and revision. Ribbeck paints the geometrical shapes flat with acrylic and then takes the paint down by machine to apply new paint with a felt-tip pen and a ballpoint pen until the different colors begin to dazzle.
