Part of a series of 9 monoprints, this new body of work by Terry Winters is titled Thyreos, after a large oval shield which was commonly used in Hellenistic armies from the 3rd century BC onwards. Each print in the series is highly colored and deeply embossed. Printed at Two Palms, NY, Winters took the monoprints to his studio and he reworked them by hand with oil paint, crayon and graphite pencil.
