The presentation highlights selected works of the 71-year-old Canadian artist Liz Magor. Drawing on pieces from her recent exhibition 'Blowout', Magor's sculptural interventions become platforms or plinths for quiet dramatizations of the relationships between seemingly forgotten objects. In an act of reversal, Magor’s sculptures suggest the agency of these objects, no longer defined by a relationship to their owners but through the possibility of acknowledging each other. In her ongoing investigation of memory and gender roles, her covert constructions confer the fluctuating value of objects that come in and out of our lives.

Liz Magor's (born 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba) work finds its center in the peripheral, often replicating the overlooked trappings of daily life and representing them in new contexts. Activated by an interest in the covert, these constructions blur the lines between reality, imagination, and simulation. Her solo exhibition 'Blowout' traveled from the Carpenter Center for Visual Arts, Cambridge (2018), to the Renaissance Society, Chicago (2019). The survey of her work 'You You You' was initiated at the Kunstverein in Hamburg, and traveled to the Migros Museum, Zurich, and MAMAC, Nice (2017). Magor participated in Documenta 8, Kassel (1987), and the 41st Venice Biennale, Venice (1984). She lives and works in Vancouver.
