“Salamandra ZAF” is the product name for the type of perforated display panels that Elisabetta Benassi used in this work. These are normally employed in workshops to store tools, or in shops to display the goods on sale. Benassi uses them, instead, to display a selection of car emblems, all from cars whose names refer to animals linked to the ideas of freedom, power and agility. Here they are ironically secured, confined within a sort of “static safari” that takes place within the borders of the panels.
