The 1980s witnessed the “New Wave Art Movement” in Wuhan, marking the beginning of the history of contemporary Chinese art. Two important art magazines , “Art Trends” and “Fine Arts Literature” which have been considered highly influential media of China's contemporary art, emerged successively in Wuhan.
