An inspiring week for Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires 2017
The launch of the Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires initiative was an unmitigated success with over 4,000 people attending the engaging and informative conversations, masterclasses, coaching sessions and music performances, bringing the House alive within Buenos Aires’s vibrant cultural landscape.
From November 2 – 5, 2017 the Art Basel Cities House brought together leading members of the artworld from Buenos Aires and around the world to share their expertise and explore ideas that will help define the initiative in the years to come. The innovative format of the talks, held in a casual and informal setting within the House, encouraged meaningful and immersive dialogue. The response from the many curators, collectors, speakers, artists and the general public who attended the events has been overwhelming.
Launched last November, the aim of Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires is to facilitate professional collaborations and cultural projects, and create a stronger, more connected artworld. Art Basel’s multi-year collaboration with the Argentine capital will continue to expand and highlight the city’s dynamic arts scene, promoting it to a global audience and Art Basel’s extensive network.
Following last year's launch of Art Basel Cities: Buenos Aires, Cecilia Alemani, Director and Chief Curator of High Line Art, New York and Curator of the Italian Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale, will direct an inspiring, citywide week of public art on September 6 – 12, 2018. Over the coming months, Alemani will work closely with cultural partners in Buenos Aires on the week's program. We look forward to sharing it with you soon.
