In Purple Guishan Dusk, elements such as hillsides, trees, and sheep are given a solemn and sacred temperament under the purple tone. After the Purple Solemnity exhibition, Mao Xuhui began to use purple paint to depict his recurrent theme over the years—Guishan. “The towering trees and goats on the hillside growing freely in the pristine land of Guishan…”— the artist sees the vitality of nature which he longs for and is therefore full of worship for nature.
